AFSCME lobbying to protect feds during budget talks

AFSCME International has been hard at work lobbying to protect federal employees in the current budget negotiations . Below are excerpts two union letters to Congress urging it protect the interests of federal employees. Click on the title below to view the letter. 

1.      Letter from AFSCME International to the Washington, DC area delegation in the House of Representatives

"The 1.6 million members represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) strongly urge you to sign onto Rep. Stephen Lynchs Dear Colleague letter opposing any additional cuts to federal employee compensation during the FY 2014 budget talks."

2.      Letter that AFSCME signed from the Federal-Postal Coalition to the leaders of House Senate Budget Conferees

"We are unwaveringly opposed to further sacrifices from federal employees to undo the congressionally-created crisis of sequestration. Cutting federal employee pay throughincreased retirement contributions must not be a topic for further discussion to resolvethese crises. The federal community has given its fair share already."
