LIBRARY OF CONGRESS WORKERS DIG DEEP

Monday, February 14, 2011

(DC Labor)Over the holidays members of AFSCME locals 2910 and 2477 and other Library employees donated hundreds of personal care items during our drive for Bread for the City, reports AFSCME 2910 President Saul Schniderman. Our donation box was filled to overflowing; we needed fourteen moving boxes to pack up all of the toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo, lotion, soap and more, and deliver it to Bread for the City's distribution center. Bread for the City - a local non-profit organization that provides vulnerable residents of DC with comprehensive services, including food, clothing, medical care, and legal and social services, in an atmosphere of dignity and respect helps around 5,000 people in need every month at no cost. Thank you to everyone who donated to our community service project last year, adds Schniderman. Your generosity made it a tremendous success. - photo courtesy AFSCME 2910
